On June 20, 2023, our company reached a cooperation agreement with Anshan Thermal Energy Research Institute of China Steel Group on the engineering implementation project of blast furnace slag waste heat recovery at Shanghai Meishan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., and signed a technical agreement.
In today's rapidly develo
ping socio-economic environment, we still face problems such as low recovery rates, inability to commercialize, and slow research progress in blast furnace slag waste heat recovery technology. A lot of national resources have been wasted in the steel industry, and China is currently the world's largest producer of steel. At the same time, the amount of blast furnace slag discharged during blast furnace smelting is also enormous. The recovery of waste heat from blast furnace slag is a global challenge, and so far there have been no successful cases worldwide.
How to utilize blast furnace slag? The slag produced by smelting at around 1450 ℃ will be first impacted and granulated into small particles with a median diameter of 3 millimeters, and cooled to 1000 ℃ -1250 ℃. The particle slag will then pass through the separation module and waste heat recovery module to prepare saturated steam, which will drive the generator set to convert the waste heat of blast furnace slag from "waste residue" to electrical energy.
Our company has proposed a solution based on the existing problems. Through technological transformation, we have solved the problems of low heat recovery utilization rate, improved the quality of waste heat recovery, and reduced operating costs.
The project has strong foresight, obvious progressiveness at home and abroad, and initiative in the recovery of hot slag from blast furnace. After the completion of the project, it will become an important milestone for the successful recovery and utilization of waste heat from blast furnace slag for the first time.
